Jeff Barton

Biographie:
Jeff has managed planning and public involvement projects for clients as varied as historic small towns and Fortune 500 companies. He has won awards for his work in planning, government management, and communications. As a former Hays County Commissioner and Vice-Chair of CAMPO, Jeff has been active in regional planning, affordable housing, economic development, growth management and transportation issues along the Interstate 35 Corridor and across Texas. Jeff is a regular instructor for planning and growth management seminars for organizations such as the Texas Conference of Urban Counties, the Texas Association of Counties, Capital Area Council of Governments, University of Texas-San Antonio, the Houston-Galveston COG, among many others. A nationally certified planner, Jeff has managed projects ranging from a few thousand to hundreds of millions of dollars and facilitated or directed more than a dozen successful bond propositions. And though the focus of his planning practice has been public policy, outreach, and long-range regional planning, Jeff also has worked on dozens of commercial and residential planning, entitlement, and redevelopment projects. Early in his career he worked as a speechwriter and legislative press assistant to Congressman Jake Pickle in Washington, D.C. He has also worked as a business owner, a magazine writer, a publisher, and an award-winning newspaper reporter and editor, writing on growth, development, and social justice issues.
