Jonathan Epstein
Biografía: Jonathan Epstein - Currently Managing Director of GreenOak Real Estate Advisors LP, a global Real Estate Merchant Bank and Advisory firm with offices in New York, London, Tokyo and Los Angeles. Senior Advisor to Hackman Capital Partners and from February 2006 until March 2010 President of the firm and co-managing partner of the firm’s individual Investment entities. Owned and managed 16mm sq. ft. of commercial real estate in 13 states. 16 year veteran of Lehman Brothers (14yrs) and Merrill Lynch. Jonathan held various management and leadership positions throughout his career primarily focused on Principal Investing , Distressed and Special Situation Investing, Structured Lending and Structured Credit (CMBS, ABS, CLO/CDO). From 1997-2005 Jonathan built and led Lehman Brothers Asian Real Estate Investing (Balance Sheet and Private Equity Funds), Special Situation/Distressed Investing, Real Estate Investment Banking and all Lending efforts in Asia. Additionally Jonathan was in charge of Lehman’s leading Asian Asset Backed and Residential Mortgage trading activities. While in Asia Jonathan was able to successfully navigate multiple countries regulatory, legal and tax barriers as well as significant internal and external bureaucracy and cultural barriers to create a best in class investing and asset management franchise. Jonathan’s career started in 1989 at Merrill Lynch where he worked in both Structured Finance Banking as well as Merrill’s asset based principal activities which started with the RTC in the US. His distressed experience then carried over to Lehman Brothers in 1991 to continue both the structuring of assets as well as principal investing and financing of performing and distressed assets and then evolved into working on distressed acquisitions and principal investments in Europe in the mid-1990’s. Jonathan is a graduate of the School of Management at Boston University, is a past member of the Policy Advisory board of the Fisher School of Real Estate at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, past Vice Chairman of ULI in Japan and is currently a board member of Capital Servicing in Asia and a Professional Advisory Board Member of the Rett Syndrome Research Trust.
