Leon Eplan Eplan heads Eplan Consulting, which provides client services in urban planning and revitalization, economic and real estate development, and growth management. Until recently he was commissioner of planning and development for the city of Atlanta, where his responsibilities included developing the program to prepare Atlanta for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. Before leaving city government, Eplan served as the mayor+s senior adviser for post-Olympic development. He also served the city form 1974 to 1978 as commissioner of budget and planning. Prior to entering public service in 1974, Eplan was president of Eric Hill Associates. An adjunct member of the faculty of the graduate program in city planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology, he has taught courses in urban planning and revitalization, national urban policy, urban parks and planning, and real estate development. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in sociology from Emory University and the University of Tennessee, respectively, and a master+s degree in regional planning from the University of North Carolina.
