Kemper Freeman, Jr., is the third generation involved in the ownership and development of Bellevue Square, a super regional shopping center located in Bellevue, Washington. Mr. Freeman's development company, Kemper Development Company, has also developed two mixed-use projects: Bellevue Place, a 1 million square foot project comprised of two office buildings, retail space and a 382 room Hyatt Regency Hotel; and Lincoln Square, a 1.3 million square foot project comprised of 310,000 square feet of retail, a 42 story tower featuring The Westin Bellevue with 337 luxury rooms and meeting space, 148 luxury condominiums on the upper 22 stories, and a 28 story class “A” office building. Projects in 2007-2008 included a complete remodel of Bellevue Square as well as an expansion of the shopping center to include a village of luxury retail stores and a 5-star boutique hotel. An expansion of the Hyatt Regency Hotel also began in 2007 adding 351 guest rooms, as well as additional meeting and banquet space. A third mixed-use project is planned on the site to the south of Lincoln Square in the near future. Kemper Freeman is a past Chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers as well as the past chairman of the association’s Government Relations Committee and has served as a Trustee since 1987. He serves as Chairman of the Board of First Mutual Bank and is a Board Member of Overlake Hospital and PACE – Performing Arts Center Eastside. Mr. Freeman has a long history of involvement in political and civic activities. He is a former Washington State Legislator, and has served on the boards of numerous business and civic organizations.
