Evan Rose

Biografía:
With a fourteen-year track record of innovative urban projects, Evan Rose leads the urban design practice at SMWM, a national urban design and architecture firm with offices in San Francisco and New York. He has served as lead designer and project manager on the firm's most distinguished and challenging commissions across the United States including the Boston Central Artery Master Plan, the South Weymouth Naval Air Station Reuse Plan, the St. Louis Downtown and Riverfront Plan, the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative, the Southeast Federal Center, the Mission Bay Plan, the Transbay Terminal Improvement Project, and the Port of Los Angeles Framework Plan. Mr. Rose is a leader in the profession and has lectured and published widely on urban design and public space issues. He was feature din Architecture magazine's 1999 review of emerging young American architects and has published and exhibited his watercolor sketches of cities around the world. He has served as a Board member for the San Francisco AIA and the California Council of the AIA, as President of the Architecture and Design Forum at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (for which he continues to serve as Board member and Chair of Events and Programs), and as a Trustee of SFMOMA. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Design at the California College of the Arts and a Mentor at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a regular critic for architecture studios at the University of Pennsylvania, SCI-ARC, UCLA, CCA, Stanford, and UC Berkeley. Prior to joining SMWM, Mr. Rose was the Senior Urban Designer for the San Francisco Planning Department where he authored the award-winning Waterfront Urban Design and Access Plan, and initiated and implemented San Francisco's acclaimed Downtown Streetscape Plan, which had become a model for cities across the country.
