Biographie :
Bina Bhattacharyya, Associate Partner, has been with Robert A.M. Stern Architects since 2003. She is currently leading the design effort on the office's work in China, including several high-density, mixed-use developments: Wang Cuo, a 825,000 m2 residential and commercial development in Jinjiang; the Huguang Guild, a 60,000 m2 mixed-use cultural and commercial complex in historic downtown Chongqing; The Metropolitan, a 102,000 m2 development in downtown Chongqing; AVIC Town Center, a 71,000 m2 mixed-use resort village on the outskirts of Chongqing; and Heart of Lake, a two-million-square-foot high-rise garden suburb in Xiamen, China, which won the 2014 Charter Award of Merit for Best Neighborhood Plan from the Congress for the New Urbanism, the 2014 award for Best Residential Development from MIPIM Asia, and the 2015 International Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum. Ms. Bhattacharyya was the Project Manager for the Clarendon, a 32-story LEED Silver residential tower in Boston, Massachusetts; and the Santa Monica Campus of the UCLA Health System in Santa Monica, California. She has also designed multifamily residential towers in Los Angeles, New York City, Hong Kong, and Taipei; resorts in Amenia, New York; Paphos, Cyprus; and Hvar, Croatia; the LEED Platinum Caruthers Biotechnology Building at the University of Colorado at Boulder; and a golf clubhouse in Park City, Utah. Ms. Bhattacharyya's design responsibilities have also included master plans of mixed-use communities in San Diego, California; the New Jersey Meadowlands; and Uttar Pradesh, India. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Bhattacharyya worked with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where she was a designer for the Guggenheim Las Vegas Jewel Box. She also worked with Urban Design Group (now 4240) in Denver, Colorado, as a designer for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in Anaheim, and on resorts in Colorado, Utah, and Montana, as well as a private residence in Aspen, Colorado. Ms. Bhattacharyya received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University and her Master of Science degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. She is a registered architect in the State of Colorado. Ms. Bhattacharyya is a member of the Forum + Institute for Urban Design and the American Institute of Architects.
