Gia Biagi

Biographie :
12/13 Trained as an urban planner, Gia Biagi serves as Chief of Staff at the Chicago Park District where she builds relationships, guides collaboration, aligns strategic planning with performance, and accelerates innovation at a municipal government agency with nearly 3,000 employees and more than $2 billion in assets. She serves as president of the board of NeighborSpace, a non-profit land trust that provides long-term protection to more than 80 community gardens across Chicago. She is also a board member of the City Parks Alliance, a national organization that serves a broad-based network of people and institutions that care about urban parks. Her prior work includes multiple roles in government in the City of Chicago, from leading urban planning and design for Chicago’s 8,000 acres of parkland to policy work related to housing, urban development, and land tenure strategies. She earned a Masters of urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago where she specialized in economic development. Her undergraduate degree in English comes from the University of Michigan where she was a varsity letter-winner in field hockey. She recently co-founded the Civic Design Lab (civicdesignlab.net), an online forum to examine, discuss and promote new tools and insights that build better communities.
