Valerie Kretchmer
Biographie : Valerie S. Kretchmer With more than 40 years of experience in real estate analysis, urban planning and real estate acquisitions, Valerie S. Kretchmer has managed and participated in a wide range of consulting assignments for private and public sector clients. Valerie provides multi-faceted consulting services to clients, including market and financial analysis for residential, retail, office, industrial and hotel properties; specialized studies of economic and development impacts of large-scale public projects; economic and demographic analysis; and revitalization strategies for downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts in cities, suburbs and small towns. Prior to forming Valerie S. Kretchmer Associates, Inc. in 1985, Ms. Kretchmer worked at VMS Realty Partners, a national real estate investment and syndication firm. She rose from a Senior Real Estate Analyst to Director of the Real Estate Analysis/Due Diligence Department, to Assistant Vice President of Acquisitions. Earlier in her career, Ms. Kretchmer worked as an analyst and senior analyst at Real Estate Research Corporation, a national real estate consulting firm, where she managed consulting assignments for private developers, public and quasi-public agencies. Valerie has also worked in the public sector as a project planner for the downtown revitalization program in New Orleans, Louisiana, and as an aide to the late New York City Councilman Robert F. Wagner, Jr. She received her B.A. Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University in St. Louis, and her M.P.A. in urban policy analysis from the New York University Graduate School of Public Administration. Valerie co-authored Housing 1-2-3, a workbook published by the Metropolitan Planning Council (Chicago). In addition to ULI, she is a member of the American Planning Association, Illinois Housing Council, Lambda Alpha International (land economics honorary society), the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition and has the professional designation from the National Council of Housing Market Analysts. She is an approved market study provider for affordable housing projects in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
