Richard McKown
Biographie : Richard McKown Richard has spent 25 years working in the housing industry both as homebuilder, real estate developer and community designer. He lived in central France for four years, working as an artist in both sculpture and painting. After building homes in Kansas City, McKown returned to Oklahoma, where he has worked as a community developer since 2001, with a particular focus on low impact development. He has traveled extensively throughout the Unites States studying storm water management techniques. Through his collaboration with Dr. Reid Coffman, McKown has been at the forefront of developing low impact development techniques for Oklahoma, such as filtration gardens integrated into open space communities, that provide both recreational opportunities, and the integration of habitat into residential communities, creating sustainable green infrastructure McKown’s interest in mixed use walkable communities has lead him to the development of infill projects in downtown Oklahoma City. Richard and his team first completed LEVEL Urban apartments in 2012, followed by five additional buildings with a range of uses including residential, retail and office. The Housing market in the United States is dominated by the suburbs. Working both in the downtown and suburban markets provides a constant reminder that customers are making choices based on stage of life, and cost of housing, and this keeps us anchored to the desires of the market as a whole.
