Stephanie Mah
Biographie : Giaimo is a Toronto-based architecture firm integrating design, conservation, and sustainability. As Creative Director, my current projects and research focus on community placemaking and cultural heritage, circular design and building retrofits as socially and environmentally resilient strategies, and exploring deconstruction, salvage, and material re-use as a sustainable alternative to demolition. I have held positions at the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO) since 2014 and currently serve as President of ACO's Toronto Branch where I advocate for the sustainable reuse of buildings and projects that integrate new and old. I am also a professional member of Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP), a Board of Directors member of the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (BIA), a member of the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada (SSAC)'s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Sustainability Committee, and am a past member of the City of Toronto's Montgomery's Inn Museum Art Committee. Over the last 10 years in the city-building industry, I have worked at a diverse range of businesses including architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design firm DTAH, real estate tech-start up BuzzBuzzHome, and multiple new construction developers across Ontario. With a multi-disciplinary education in History and Theory of Architecture and Technology, Society, and Environment Studies from Carleton University and Digital Media Studios from OCAD University, my work focuses on creative, intersecting, and critical approaches to promoting the connection between places and people.
