June Williamson
バイオグラフィー:International speaker Professor June Williamson from New York explores a range of northern American contexts and market conditions of relevance to Australia. From modest interventions with big ripple effects to ambitious do-overs, examples of redevelopment, densification, decarbonisation, reinhabitation, regreening of changing urban places, tackling systems such as mobility, aquifer protection, renewable energy and power generation. June uses examples of successful global urban design strategies that can help solve Australia’s challenges such as housing attainability, public health, resilience in the face of climate change, the ability to leverage social capital for equity, support an aging society, compete for jobs, and disrupt car dependence. June draws from 32 implementable American case studies to demonstrate the potential to retrofit our cities. The focuses on urban design strategies for urgent challenges and how public policy and governance, public health, urban designers, planners, architects, developers, environmentalists, and community leaders can redesign and redevelop precincts into more sustainable places. Her books are a call to action to redesign the established urban landscape to support new growth patterns. June demonstrates to our leaders how development in existing precincts within our cities can absorb new growth and evolve in relation to changed demographic, technological, and economic conditions.
