Betsy VanderLey

Betsy VanderLey began her career in the AEC industry in the late 1980’s as a project manager for a construction company who was doing tenant fit out projects for retailer in shopping malls around the Country. Her career path in construction included working as the project manager for many different types of projects including bank renovations, stand alone retail stores, and municipal clients. As she grew in the business, she sat for her pollutant storage contractor’s license. VanderLey then opened her own doors providing construction and maintenance services as a Women Owned Business. Her company worked under State guidelines installing and maintaining pollution equipment on contaminated sites around the State. When State funding ended, she closed her doors. VanderLey then went to work as a business developer for various firms including; • Materials testing • Environmental engineering • Architecture • Civil engineering • Transportation planning • Land planning During this time Ms. VanderLey also became involved in the community and began working with various candidates running for office, including her father who was elected as the mayor of the Town of Oakland. She also volunteered her time on various boards including; • Orange County Planning and Zoning • Orange County Affordable Housing Board • Central Florida Expressway Authority • MetroPlan Orlando • TEAM Florida board member • Central Florida Water Co-op Board • Greater Orlando Builder’s Association • Boy Scouts of America, Central Florida Council board member • Urban Land Institute’s Women in Leadership • CREW Orlando • Society of American Military Engineers • Orange County Membership and Mission Review Board • Winter Garden Rotary • 2025 Chair of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce • United Arts of Central Florida Board • West Orange Habitat for Humanity Board In 2016 Ms. VanderLey was elected to the Orange County Florida Board of County Commissioners. Her district included Walt Disney World, Universal, Sea World, and the 2nd fastest growing planned development in the US at that time. The district also included roughly 280,000 people in one of the fastest growing areas in the Country. Today Betsy VanderLey works with LJA Engineering as the Vice President of Business Development. VanderLey has been honored as the 2014 District 1 citizen of the year, as the 2014 Greater Orlando Builder’s Association Eagle award recipient, the 2017 West Orange Boy Scouts Eagle Award winner, the 2018 Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Public Servant of the Year, and Friends of Lake Apopka Jim Thomas Environmental Hero of 2020 award. 会员名录  Arrow
