Video Summary:

The ULI Europe Awards for Excellence Ceremony celebrates the most outstanding urban development achievements in the private, public and non-profit sectors in the EMEA region.

The expert judging panel announces the winners of the 2020 Awards that have best demonstrated excellence in the full development process of the project: planning, construction, economic viability, community impact and design.

Special mentions are also awarded to the projects that have shown distinction in areas such as affordable housing, repurposing, sustainability, creative placemaking and social value.

The ceremony is moderated by Luisa Baldini, co-founder of Composure Media and former BBC correspondent, who interviews all of the winners and discusses the development and impact of their winning projects.

The ceremony also includes a special keynote address on "The City of Tomorrow: Desirable, Inclusive and Sustainable," from Philippe Chiambaretta, world-renowned architect and founder of PCA-STREAM.

The ten finalists were evaluated on the extent to which they:

  • Achieved a high standard of excellence in all areas—architecture, design, planning, construction, amenities, economics, and management, etc.
  • Demonstrated relevance to the contemporary and future needs of the community in which they are located
  • Have a positive impact in their communities and/or immediate context
  • Exhibited environmental sustainability, stewardship, and resiliency
  • Provided models, lessons, strategies, or techniques that other communities can replicate or adapt
