Ms. Abbey Oklak is a Director of Multifamily Development at Kimco Realty - North America's largest publicly traded owner and operator of open-air, grocery-anchored shopping centers, including mixed-use assets. Ms. Oklak leads redevelopment projects in the mid-atlantic region focusing on bringing a diversity of uses to current single-use assets. Her background as a licensed architect and urban designer brings experience to develop and build the best in class for Kimco's portfolio. Previously, Ms. Oklak spent over 12 years at the architecture and urban design firm Cooper Carry creating and entitling large masterplans and implementing them through construction. She entitled over 22 million square feet of leasable development in the DC metro region, and she understands the many local jurisdictions different requirements and works collaboratively to complete projects successfully. Notable projects include the entitlement and phase 1 construction of Reston NXT at the future silver line station in Reston, VA and the entitlement of Landmark Mall in Alexandria, VA. Earlier in her career, Ms. Oklak worked at the Prince's Foundation for Building Community focusing on educating and implementing walkable urbanism in many small towns in the United Kingdom, and she also worked for renown classical firm of Stanhope Gate on historical renovations in London's Kensington neighborhood. Ms. Oklak graduated from University of Notre Dame's with a Bachelors of Architecture. She also has a Masters in Sustainable Urbanism from the Prince's Foundation for Building Community/ the University of Wales and an MBA from Georgetown University.
