Jill Jones

Biography:
Jill was the founding Principal of ajc architects in 1991, one of the first woman-owned architectural firms in Utah. Her talent for project administration and team leadership has led to repeat clients and steady growth. Jill’s pursuit of work with a range of corporate, hospitality, educational, and government clients has led her to become licensed in 37 states. She has particularly excelled in coordinating the varied interest of significant public projects where the “client” may include government or institutional leaders, special committees, several user-groups, and an entire community. She makes these challenging projects a success by implementing a process of inclusion and consensus building, thereby building support for a project at every stage of development from conception through completion. Jill also prioritizes non-profit clients and work at ajc. As part of Jill’s commitment to design which supports sensitive populations, she was responsible for community outreach, programming, and design of 3 new Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake Community Resource Centers. Jill became USGBC LEEDTM certified in 2003, and currently incorporates the principles of sustainable design into all project planning and design. Jill’s practice has included pro-bono work for over 25 non-profit organizations including the YWCA, Utah Aids Foundation, and Volunteers of America. An active participant in the Utah Chapter of AIA, Jill served as President of the organization in 1998, and was a member of the Utah Department of Professional Licensing Board. Career leadership awards include being named one of the “Top 30 Women in Business” by Utah Business magazine in 2002, and receiving the YWCA Outstanding Achievement Award in Business/Industry for 2001. Jill holds a Master of Architecture and a Master of Science in Recreation/Resource Management from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Management from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
