Steven Chaffer
Biographie: Steven is an Associate, Senior Designer in Stantec’s Visioning Brands and Experiences group. A multi-disciplinary studio, located in Boulder, Colorado, focused on designing experiences that connect people to place. With over a decade of experience, Steven has worked on projects ranging from large-scale buildings to experiential masterplans in North America, Europe, China, and South Korea. His more recent works in North America include McGregor Square located in Denver, Colorado and design visioning for Belmont Park masterplan, now home to UBS Arena, in Elemont, New York. Steven is also an expert in computational design, leading several research and development initiatives in Stantec focused on automating multi-family residential building layout at masterplan scale. He has instructed parametric design as a lecturer at the University of Colorado Boulder and as a visiting lecturer at Seoul National University. He previously worked in Seoul, South Korea and Beijing, China engaging on iconic projects including the Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts in Chicago, Illinois and the Gardenhouse in Beverly Hills, California. More recently, Steven presented a concurrent session at the ULI Spring Meeting 2022 in San Diego on 'Entertainment Districts a Economic Engine.' He also had a follow-up presentation at ULI South Korea 2022 on entertainment districts highlighting works on McGregor Square, Denver, Colorado. Steven received his master’s degree in architecture from Seoul National University and his bachelor’s from the University of Colorado Boulder. He lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and daughter. Outside of work, Steven is an avid skier and snowboarder—a passion he has been chasing for over 25 years.
