Charles Ackerman

The company has offices in Atlanta and Gaithersburg, Maryland, a suburb just outside of Washington, D.C. and has developed more than 5.5 million square feet office, retail, and residential projects over the past twenty-two years. Ackerman's creativity and insight in commercial development has made him the recipient of numerous awards for architectural and design exellence; his most recent creation being the Swissotel Atlanta, a five-star, luxury hotel located in the heart of Buckhead. Ackerman attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. After serving two years in the U. S. Army as a cryptography specialist, he began his career in Atlanta with Allan Grayson Realty. In 1964, he became Vice President of Pope and Carter Co.. He has also attended Emory University's School of Law and Georgia State University's School of Art and Anthropology. Ackerman's involvement in the Atlanta community includes many civic and educational commitments. He is the Georgia State Chairman of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and in 1990 he received the Presidential appointment to the Holocaust Memorial Council. Currently, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Clark Atlanta University and Emory University's School of Art and Archaeology. He is on the Board of Directors of Atlanta Mens ORT and the Japan American Society where he is co-chairperson of the Educational Affairs Committee.
