John Breitinger
Biography: John Breitinger is a seasoned real estate professional with 40 years of experience in all aspects of real estate investment and development. He has a particular passion for the ways that the built environment supports investors, occupiers and communities. He understands the special challenges of keeping real estate assets aligned with the changing needs of these stakeholders. His career has spanned multiple market cycles. He believes that change creates opportunity. He is a strategic thinker and a strong leader who enjoys building teams to work across disciplines to deliver value to diverse stakeholders. He currently oversees Cushman & Wakefield’s Minnesota-based Real Estate Development Advisory practice. The Real Estate Development Advisory team delivers solutions to maximize the value of real estate assets that are out of synch with operating or investment strategies and in need of (re)development or repositioning. The team specializes in working with property owners and communities who are not in the real estate business in order to help them harvest stranded value using a disciplined approach that is focused on simplifying the unique challenges of the development process. Solutions very often engage others across multiple service lines. Since its inception, this team has contributed to more than $2.5 billion in development projects. Past Experience Prior to Cushman & Wakefield's purchase and the re-branding of United Properties' Real Estate Services business in 2017, John spent 27 years in a variety of investment and development roles with sister company United Properties. He established the advisory practice in 2010. Prior to joining United Properties, John was a principal in Jackson-Scott & Associates, a full-service shopping center management and leasing firm.
