Kevin Bates

Biography: I own Sharp Development Company, and have 35 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and development. Over the past 10-12 years I have concentrated on retrofitting older generation buildings to carbon neutrality and a net zero energy bill, while having a strong emphasis on the health and wellness of the interior environment for the occupants. The driver for me is to demonstrate that this way of repurposing existing building stock can be done in a manner that is more profitable for the ownership than the less expensive way of building to meet minimum code. I have completed 6 ZNE projects, am fairly active as a public speaker in trying to spread our knowledge on how to build sustainably as much as possible and am a member of the Green Building Advisory Committee (GBAC) which advises the GSA on it's RE sustainability initiatives.
