Biography:
Preston Butcher is Chairman of Legacy Partners and formerly Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Partners Commercial in Foster City, California. Legacy Partners develops, acquires and manages income property in the western United States. Legacy Partners has developed, acquired and managed over 73,000 residential housing units which have exceeded $6.3 billion in cost. Under Mr. Butcher’s leadership, Legacy Partners Commercial developed, acquired and managed 128 million square feet which has exceeded $10.93 billion in cost. Mr. Butcher sold his interest in Legacy Partners Commercial to NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. in September 2014. Mr. Butcher has extensive experience throughout the western half of the United States in the development and acquisition of apartment units, industrial space and office space. This experience has resulted from partnerships with local people in the major western cities. In October 2001, Legacy Partners was honored by Multifamily Executive Magazine as 2002 Builder of the Year with representation on the magazine cover. In February 2002, Legacy Partners received the prestigious “Pillars of the Industry Award,” for 2002 Builder of the Year presented by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Multifamily Division. The top honor recognizes superior career achievement by a multifamily builder whose products have made a positive impact on the industry and whose career demonstrates a desire and commitment to provide quality multifamily housing. Mr. Butcher co-founded, formerly served as past Chairman of the Board of Directors, and presently serves on the Executive Committee of the National Multi Housing Council, a national trade association whose members are the major apartment owners and managers throughout the United States. He also co-founded and currently serves as a Director of the California Housing Council.
