Biography:
Ian R. Carlton, Ph.D. is an educator and social entrepreneur whose work focuses on Equitable TOD planning and implementation. He is an adjunct professor of real estate development and planning at the University of Oregon and Portland State University. Ian co-founded MapCraft.io, which provides real estate analytics to help create effective urban policy, and serves as Senior Economic Advisor at ECONorthwest. Ian has worked with transit agencies, local jurisdictions, the federal government, advocacy organizations, and others nationwide to foster TOD. As a former real estate investor, Ian often helps policymakers and stakeholders understand the complex and context-specific factors that influence real estate development. Ian is a member of ULI’s national TOD Product Council and serves on the Transportation Research Board’s Land Development Committee. He chairs ULI Northwest's UrbanPlan task force.
