Lance Coplin

Biography:
In my role as Senior Vice President for Frost Bank (NYSE: CFR) I serve both new and existing clients as a trusted source for construction project financing and novel loan structures. With over $800 million in real estate loan closings for local and national developers, I have extensive transaction and asset management experience in all property types. I began my real estate career as a Texas Certified General Appraiser where I gained extensive experience writing appraisals for banks, the FDIC and private equity clients after the 2008 financial crisis. That experience led me to a brief tour in private equity in Newport Beach, CA before returning to Austin to build a career in real estate lending. I first joined ULI in 2013 to establish deeper connections with local real estate professionals and to enhance my commercial real estate knowledgebase. In 2017 I was invited to join Programs Committee to help organize ULI Austin’s monthly breakfast and lunch events. In 2018 I had the opportunity to serve as moderator for the Building Equitable Cities breakfast panel, which examined the housing methods and recommendations developed by former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros. While on Programs Committee I also wrote case studies for and emceed ULI Austin’s Battle of the Plans competitions for ULI’s Young Leaders. I joined ULI Austin’s Management Committee in 2021 and served as chair of Programs Committee from 2021 – 2023. I have been active on the ULI Austin Local Member Council – Urban since 2019 and I participate in the local ULI NEXT cohort. I am currently Chair of Mission Advancement for ULI Austin where I oversee our four (4) Local Strategic Councils (Affordability, Transportation, Creative Culture, and Climate Impact) as well as the Technical Assistance Panels (TAPs) Committee. I most recently served as a panelist for ULI Young Leaders’ Capital Markets event in October 2024. My contributions to ULI Austin have been recognized with nominations for Young Leader of the Year in 2018 and Member of the Year in 2021. I was awarded ULI Austin Member of the Year in 2022. I hold an MBA in public and private real estate from the University of Texas - McCombs School of Business, and a BBA in real estate finance from Texas Christian University - Neeley School of Business. Outside of my professional pursuits, I volunteer with Junior Achievement and the Thundercloud Turkey Trot, a 20,000-person charity race that has donated over $1.0MM to Caritas of Austin. Caritas is a nonprofit whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness for people in Greater Austin. When not working or volunteering I am often exploring the outdoors with my wife and three kids.
