Biography:
Clarence Eng, FAICP, is a transit and redevelopment practice leader with 30+ years of experience leading integrated place making, land use, transportation, and community planning projects across the U.S. His context-sensitive designs are implementation focused—resulting in many award-winning projects including transit-oriented developments in the Washington, DC region. Clarence’s diversity of expertise in transit planning, urban design, strategic plans, land use, transportation, economic revitalization and public engagement is invaluable in transforming project plans into built realities. His portfolio includes WMATA Twinbrook Transit Village, Washington DC South Capitol Corridor, Richmond PULSE BRT, St Petersburg (FL) SunRunner TOD, Tampa Streetcar Extension and Modernization, VTA's BART Silicon Valley Phase II Project, Monterey-Salinas Transit SURF! Highway 1 Busway and Bus Rapid Transit, and more. Clarence helped develop the National Transit Institute’s TOD course, and is a National Charrette Institute-certified charrette leader. He is a regular speaker at national conferences on transit and community planning, visioning, TOD, smart mobility, Main Street revitalization, and corridor planning. Clarence served as on the several ULI Technical Advisory Panels including Denver’s 16th Street Mall and SF Bay Area Fremont Warm Springs BART station area. He was inducted into the College of Fellows for the American Association of Certified Planners (FAICP) in 2018. Clarence holds dual Master degrees in Planning and Urban Design from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Montreal, and is fluent in French and Chinese.
