Merrie Frankel
Biography: For ULI, Ms. Frankel is currently a trustee, member of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI), and NY Governance Comm. She is a former Chair of the New York District Council, Council Counselor for all UDMUCs, Chair of Urban Development Mixed-Use (UDMUC/Gold) Council, participated in various scholarship committees, and, as Chair of the Education Committee for the New York District Council, started ULI’s UrbanPlan real estate course in New York City high schools in 2002. Other activities include teaching real estate capital markets as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia and NYU Schack; a member of the University of Pennsylvania-Trustees’ Council of Penn Women; Board member and Finance Comm member, chaired various committees and been a Secretary/Executive Committee member of the Financial Women's Association of New York (FWA); sat on the Board of Directors and currently scholarship committee for New York Women Executives in Real Estate (WX); was Treasurer/Board of Governors member for the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of NY (YM/WREA); one of 50 “Women of Influence” by Real Estate New York in 2008; and named one of the “2020 Directors to Watch” by Directors & Boards. She contributed to Educated REIT Investing (Wiley), a REIT textbook that was published in 2021. She holds J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Hofstra University Law and Graduate Business Schools and graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania with various honors.
