Biography:
Ms. Fun is a registered architect with 35 years of experience. She graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) from the National University of Singapore in 1986 and obtained her Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University in 1993. Ms. Fun is currently the Chief Urban Designer at the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Her primary responsibility is to oversee the architectural and urban design aspects of URA’s work. She started her career at the Housing & Development Board as an architect designing public housing. Following 13 years there, she was seconded to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) which is the national planning and conservation authority of Singapore, to head the Urban Design Section responsible for drawing up the urban design plans and policies for the city centre of Singapore. Prior to her current appointment, she was the Group Director (Urban Planning & Design), primarily overseeing the planning and urban design work of Central Area which includes districts like Marina Bay and Orchard Road, as well as place management of Singapore River and Marina Bay. As the Chief Urban Designer, she oversees the urban design for Central Area of Singapore as well as new key growth areas outside the Central Area such as Jurong Lake District, Woodlands Regional Centre, Punggol North Coast and the Greater Southern Waterfront. She chairs the Design Advisory Panels of the URA for key projects in Singapore to ensure high quality designs for these projects. She was on the selection committee and competition jury for the Sports Hub and the State Courts and the Founders’ Memorial project respectively. She was also a member of the Project Steering Committee for Maxwell Chamber Suites. She is also a member of the Land Transport Authority’s Architectural Design Review Panel for the Jurong Regional Line and North-East Line Extension and Cross Island Line stations.
