Richard Galehouse
Biography: Richard Galehouse, AICP Principal Emeritus Sasaki Associates Inc. Watertown, MA Richard "Dick" Galehouse is a planner and architect with more than forty years of experience directing complex urban, new community, resort, institutional, and environmental planning and design projects. His project work has included: The Presidio Trust Management Plan in SF which received ULI's Global Award of Excellence; master planning for the modern Olympics in the United States including the 1980 winter games in Lake Placid NY, the 1984 summer games in Los Angles and plans for the Olympic Village at Georgia Tech and Stone Mountain Park for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. New community, research parks, and urban design assignments have included the new community of Southwood in Tallahassee, Fla, Princeton University's research park the Forrestal Center in Princeton, NJ and the Riverwalk in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. Dick has worked extensively with colleges and universities throughout the United States including the University System of Georgia and the University of South Carolina. Dick has held teaching assignments and lectured at colleges, universities and professional organizations including ULI. He has written extensively for publication in professional journals including Urban Land and Landscape Architecture. Dick is the author of the book "Power of the Plan, Building a University in Historic Columbia, South Carolina" published by the University of South Carolina Press. Mr. Galehouse has served on the UDMUC and Recreation Development Councils, and has been a panel member for various plan analysis sessions. He has served as the planner/urban designer on over fifteen of ULI's Advisory Services Programs including Treasure Island in San Francisco, California; Downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota; Hengelo in the Netherlands; Phoenix Light-Rail in Phoenix Arizona; University of New Orleans, Louisiana, San Bernardino, California; the University of Denver in Denver CO; and Kai Tak
