Roger Galatas

Biography: Galatas is president of The Woodlands Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitchell Energy & Development Corp., a Fortune 500 independent energy and real estate company (AMEX) headquartered at The Woodlands, Texas. Previously the Company's executive vice president, Galatas was elected president in July 1986. He joined the company in 1979, following nine years with Friendswood Development Company, an Exxon affiliate. The Woodlands Corporation is priamarily responsible for developing the new town of The Woodlands, just north of Houston. The company's capabilities and responsibilities include master planning, land development, building constuction/leasing/managment, and coordination of institutional and support services for the 25,000-acre new town. In addtion to his responsibilities as president of The Woodlands Corporation, Galatas is inviled ina number of professional, community, and civic activities, including the following: past president of Conroe Independent School District, trustee and president of Montgomery County Hospital; trustee of the Sam Houston Area Bou Scout Council; and the president of The Woodlands Medical Center, Inc.
