Ron Gerber

Biography:
Ron Gerber has 30 years experience in community and economic redevelopment with an emphasis on public privet partnerships.He most recently served as Economic Development Manager for the City of Vallejo,Ca where he oversaw the disposition of approximately 200 acres of City owned land including waterfront properties that are being redeveloped for residential/mixed use, commercial and light industrial uses adjacent to the San Francisco ferry terminal. He also oversaw downtown urban infill projects and recently assisted a County government on the disposition of a 147 acre county fairgrounds site adjacent to Six Flags. Ron also handled a variety of business attraction and expansion projects. Mr.Gerber also worked for the cities of South San Francisco and Walnut Creek in similar capacities over the previous six years. Prior to coming to Walnut Creek he served for ten years as the Economic and Redevelopment Administrator for the City of Novato where he was a key team member that helped transition the 600 acre former Hamilton Field military base into civilian use. Considered by many to be one of the most successful base reuse projects in the country, nearly $1.5 Billion in private investment was generated in 10 years that encompassed 550,000 square feet of offices and technology space, 2,100 new homes, a hotel, restaurants, cafes, artist studios, open space, hiking trails and one of the largest wetlands restoration projects in the United States. Ron also led the City’s downtown revitalization efforts including a main street redevelopment project that included a 37,000 square foot Whole Foods with 124 units on the air rights above the store with a three level parking structure. Ron worked closely with the development team of the Lalanne Group and Signature properties to bring the project to fruition.
