Steven Goldin

Biography: Steven E. Goldin is Director of Strategic Real Estate Initiatives at George Mason University. He previously served as President of InterCap Holdings, based in Princeton, NJ. InterCap has developed mixed-use Transit Oriented Developments (TOD) valued in excess of $850 million, comprised of 2,200 residential units and 600,000 square feet of office and retail space. Goldin is the former Director of Real Estate for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the nation’s 2nd largest rail system, where he is over saw 15 million square feet of public/private TOD in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Working closely with Federal officials to change public policy to foster TOD nationally, Goldin initiated and completed negotiation of an unprecedented master lease agreement with the Federal Government for development of four Metro stations, including potential sites for the FBI’s new 2 million square foot headquarters. As a Project Executive with K. Hovnanian, Goldin had P&L responsibility for assets of $130 million and was a key player in developing 850 residential units in Newark, NJ. While serving as Director of Planning and Development for Woodbridge, New Jersey (pop. 101,000), Goldin was responsible for the development of a new Municipal Complex, Main Street Redevelopment and RiverWalk Promenade, each of which was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. As President of the Woodbridge Economic Development Corporation, Goldin spearheaded the redevelopment of 800 acres of contaminated waterfront property. Goldin holds a BA from Harvard and an MBA from Columbia. He has served on the Urban Land Institute’s Urban Development/Mixed Use Council, Public Infrastructure Council and was a Co-Founder of the New Jersey Chapter of The Congress for the New Urbanism. Goldin has been a featured speaker on TOD throughout the nation and has lectured at Harvard Business School, NYU, Georgetown and Rutgers University.
