Eliot Hoyt

Biography:
Eliot Hoyt is the Assistant Director for Sustainability and Working Lands at the Colorado State Land Board, with responsibility for the 2.8 million acres of land held in trust primarily for Colorado public school children. Eliot oversees five programs at the Land Board: Real Estate, Water, Agriculture, Ecosystem Services, and Recreation. Each of these programs generates revenue for the beneficiaries through leases, with some parcels carrying multiple layers of programming. The Real Estate group manages over 400,000 square feet of commercial buildings, administers ground leases for developments, ranging from affordable housing to sustainable resort properties, and leads land acquisitions and dispositions that can range from one 640-acre section to tens of thousands of acres. With his years of experience working as an urban planner and real estate market analyst in design and construction firms, Eliot brings a holistic perspective to his position. Balancing the interests of diverse stakeholder groups and connecting opportunities for a greater net benefit for all constituents comes naturally to him. Eliot is a certified planner (AICP) with a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from University of Colorado Denver. He is a member of the national Reuse and Redevelopment Product Council at ULI and a past Co-Chair of the Community Development Council for the Colorado Chapter of ULI. He served as Chair of the International Advisory Board of the University of Colorado Real Estate Center, which is part of the Leeds School of Business, and taught as an adjunct professor in the undergraduate real estate program there. He also serves as a Mayoral Trustee on the board of the Denver Botanic Gardens. In every endeavor, Eliot brings value by applying his project management skills, facilitation training, abilities as an interpreter of complex content, and understanding of the business of real estate.
