Kazi Haque
Biography: Kazi Haque (AICP) certified planner, holds the position as the deputy city manager for the City of Maricopa, Arizona, and has been employed with the city since October 2005. He is an integral part of the Administration and Management Team and has been involved with numerous projects in the city, including the siting of the first ethanol plant in Arizona. Mr. Haque has over 20 years of public service and oversees all current and long-range planning activities, including experience in hazards mitigation, water resource, and environmental planning as well as in supervision and public administration. During his tenure with the City of Maricopa, he has supported and established community-based outreach programs, mediation, and dissemination of information for projects to balance hyper-growth (4000%) and sprawl as experienced by the city in the mid-2000s. He was also successful in bringing American Planning Association CPAT (Community Planning Assistance Team) to visit Maricopa in 2011 and served as APA’s primary community liaison throughout the effort. Prior to his employment with the City of Maricopa, Mr. Haque spent five years as a planner and economic development specialist for the Town of Queen Creek, Arizona. His planning career started in 1998 with the Center for Resource Planning and Management (CRPM) at Springfield, Missouri. Mr. Haque throughout his career has been an active social member and belongs to many groups, organizations, and associations nationwide. Mr. Haque has been a member of American Planning Association since 1998. Mr. Haque is a graduate of Missouri State University; Springfield, Missouri with Bachelor’s in Geography with an emphasis in Urban and Regional Planning and has a Master’s degree in Resource Planning.
