Michael Hong

Biography:
Michael Hong is a Vice President of Development at RPM. RPM is one New Jersey’s top leading developers of housing with a portfolio of over 4,000 units and over 300,000 square feet of commercial space representing over hundreds of millions of dollars of community investment. RPM’s high-quality work has been recognized with numerous Governor’s Awards for Housing Excellence since its founding in 1986. Joining in 2015, Michael has overseen the development, sales, and marketing of RPM’s market-rate for-sale portfolio, including the 68 homes in East Gate at Fort Monmouth. In furthering RPM’s core mission of expanding affordable housing, he executed financing utilizing a variety of public and private funding sources for over 450 residential units. He continues to be active in growing RPM’s development pipeline by adding hundreds of residential units. He further diversified RPM’s portfolio with overseeing the company’s first RAD Conversion development in close partnership with the Keansburg Housing Authority providing rehabilitated homes for 79 residents. Michael’s experience spans a variety of development types, which include mixed-use, mixed-income, and transit-oriented and is intimately involved in the full development cycle from pen and paper to construction to stabilization. Michael’s most interested in the opportunity to have a positive physical impact in communities in cities and towns across the region through high-quality and sustainable development. Prior to coming to RPM, he interned at a regional housing developer based in Philadelphia and spent more than three years at IBM as a Public Sector Consultant within IBM’s Global Business Services division and worked with the Department of Interior and the US Army supporting SAP implementation projects. During his undergraduate studies, he also worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center through their Cooperative Education Program. Michael holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a B.S. in Marketing and a B.A. in Advertising-Public Relations from the Pennsylvania State University.
