Mossik Hacobian

Biography:
Mossik Hacobian Interim Executive Director, Boston's Higher Ground Mossik is the Interim Executive Director of Boston’s Higher Ground and part time consultant with Serrafix working on a project known as ee2020 with Massachusetts cities to reduce energy consumption by 20% by 2020. Mossik worked for 33 years at Urban Edge, recognized as one of the leading community development corporations (CDCs) in the northeast. He left Urban Edge in December 2010 after a tenure that included three years as President and 22 years as Executive Director. Urban Edge has developed and preserved 1,350 homes and apartments and several key community facilities and neighborhood scale retail spaces in the Jamaica Plain, Roxbury and surrounding neighborhoods of Boston. Boston’s Higher Ground’s mission is to promote health and human development from a child’s earliest years until completion of college with a focus is on early childhood development, education, health, youth employment and community leadership. Higher Ground is inspired by the Harlem Children’s Zone and focused on the Warren Gardens neighborhood of Boston as its initial target area. In the ee2020 project Mossik is focused on the equity and residential elements of the initiative to ensure that residents of ee2020’s target cities have the opportunity to participate in and benefit by saving energy in their homes and saving money in utility costs. In 2005 Mossik was selected as one 12 Boston nonprofit leaders as a Barr Foundation Fellow and awarded a sabbatical and travelled to South Africa and Zimbabwe. His awards include Citizens Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) Community Service (1998), LISC Mike Sviridoff Leadership (2005), Mass. Association of CDCs Richard Smith (2010), UMass Robert H.
