Shawn Howton

Biography: Full Member: Shawn D. Howton, PhD Dr. Howton received his BS and MBA at Sotuhern Illinois University and his PhD at Florida State University. He began his career at Drexel University in 1997 and moved to the Villanova School of Business in the fall of 1999. Dr. Howton was named the director of the Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate in 2007. His research interests include financing decisions of Real Estate Investment Trusts, corporate governance and derivative securities and structured products. Dr. Howton has published 17 refereed journal articles in journals including Financial Management, Journal of Financial Research, Financial Review, Journal of Derivatives, Real Estate Portfolio Management, and Briefings in Real Estate Finance. Dr. Howton serves as an ad hoc reviewer for more than a dozen journals including th Journal of Real Estate Economics and Finance and Real Estate Portfolio Management. Dr. Howton currently teaches Real Estate Investments and Fixed Income Markets at the undergraduate level and Structured Producs in the MSF program.
