Dorsa Jalalian

Biography:
With over 10 years of professional experience and as a dedicated urbanist, Dorsa is passionate about every aspect of the built environment. This innate passion has led her to complete both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Urban Design. Since then, Dorsa has worked in both architecture and planning firms and has completed projects ranging from visionary city-scaled design exhibitions across North America, to conducting planning studies in California, to master plans and urban design guidelines for developments of various scales throughout the GTA. Dorsa is known for her strong ability to complete complex, challenging projects while maintaining a tight focus on crucial details. In particular, Dorsa finds joy in placemaking by designing improvements to the public realm and creating a sense of place. As an advocate for vibrant and socially inclusive cities, Dorsa applies Gender-Based Analysis Plus process (GBA+) throughout the planning and design process. She values meaningful community engagement and is experienced in designing and leading engagement processes with stakeholders from all walks of life. Dorsa is still involved with her Alma Mater, Daniels Faculty at UofT, as a guest critic for thesis reviews, and is also involved in various mentorship programs, particularly providing mentorship to BIPOC students in planning and urban design.
