Benjamin Kaiser
Biography: 3530 North Vancouver Avenue Suite 330 Portland, Oregon 97227 503.234.4718 “Our mission is to earn and maintain the respect of each person we meet. Our development decisions will always consider the people of Portland first, to ensure that our projects are foremost a benefit to the community.” Kaiser Group, Inc. and PATH Architecture, Inc. Kaiser Group, Inc. is a property development and licensed general contracting firm (all structures) and PATH Architecture, Inc., is a licensed architectural firm. Both firms are owned and operated by Benjamin Kaiser. Mr. Kaiser is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and has been a licensed architect for twenty five years, working for architecture, construction and development firms in Ohio, Rhode Island and Oregon. He has been involved in the design and construction of all aspects of public and private buildings. For the past twenty five Mr. Kaiser has been involved in the development of properties in every quadrant of Portland. He was there during the early stages of the redevelopment of Portland’s Pearl District and has more recently spearheaded the new wave of significant re-development in north and northeast Portland. These developments have included restaurants, apartment buildings, industrial and commercial spaces, as well as the renovation, construction and sale, of over 200 residential condominiums. As a general contractor KGI has built a wide variety of projects ranging in scale from one to fifteen million dollars including residential and industrial condominiums, commercial buildings and new multifamily and single family residences. The majority of the projects that KGI constructs has been those developed and designed in-house, (PATH Architecture), which results in minimal deviation from originally established budgets and schedules. KGI is responsible for the initial development idea, securing the required funding via private and public sources, purchasing the land, executing the required proformas, budgets, and schedules, the eventual construction of the project, and often followed by the ownership and management of the property. Both firms have consistently focused on the design and construction of residential and commercial projects in very close-in north, northwest, and northeast Portland. In an effort to continue Portland’s progressive environmental sensitivity both firms strive to keep density high and commutes short. This close-in approach also further supports and protects the financial investments that go into each project. Most recently the firms have led the way in timber and cross laminated timber (CLT) design and construction. The Radiator building was the first 65’ tall, all timber, structure built in Oregon in over 100 years. The Radiator, along with the balance of OneNorth, recently received the “Sustainable Project of the Year” award from the Portland Business Journal. Carbon Twelve, a 95’ tall condominium project, is now the tallest CLT structure in the United States. When complete, Carbon Twelve will be the “greenest” residential project in the United States. These engineered wood product structures are all about carbon sequestration, local job creation and aesthetic elegance, a winning combination. Our investors have always prospered. Even with the inclusion of the very difficult recession, our investors have consistently maintained a return of over 25%, year after year. In addition to strong investor relations, we have continued to build on our twelve year, and going strong, relationship with Pacific Continental Bank. Mr. Kaiser recently retired from an eight year term as the Vice-Chair on the Portland Design Commission. The Mayoral appointed Commission is responsible for overseeing the myriad of design, zoning, new construction, and future planning issues facing Portland. The majority of the employees at both firms, including Mr. Kaiser, live within a couple miles of our office and projects, making all of our decisions personal.
