Charles Landry
Biography: January 2004 CHARLES A. LANDRY Mr. Landry is a partner at Jones Walker, the managing partner of the firm's Baton Rouge offices and a member of Jones Walker's executive committee. He is a member of the Baton Rouge and Louisiana State Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice in the State of Louisiana, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and United States Supreme Court. Mr. Landry specializes in the areas of real estate, real estate finance, and business and commercial law. He has represented numerous parties in a wide range of real estate transactions, which include office buildings, shopping malls and centers, hotels and medical facilities, and golf courses and golf course communities, as well as industrial and residential developments. He has also been very involved in advancing the Greater Baton Rouge's high?tech, information and entrepreneurial economic sector. He was instrumental in the formation of the Louisiana Technology Park, and serves as General Counsel to the Research Park Corporation. Mr. Landry has been selected annually since 1993 to be included in the publication The Best Lawyers in America as one of fifteen attorneys chosen in Louisiana in the area of Real Estate Law. Mr. Landry is the Co?Editor of The Foreign Investor's Guide to the Legal Aspects of Doing Business in Louisiana, an extensive analysis of the laws of the United States and the State of Louisiana as those laws may impact a party wishing to invest in Louisiana. He has been a frequent lecturer at Louisiana State University Law School and numerous continuing education seminars on the subjects of complex real estate transactions, title examination, land use planning, secured transactions, and real estate workouts. AWARDS AND RECOGNITION: Mr. Landry received the 2003 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award presented at the annual meeting of the Association of Fundraising Professional for his work on the Shaw Center for the Arts project, as well as numerous other philanthropic projects. Mr. Landry received the 2002 Distinguished Leadership Award for a Citizen Planner presented by the Louisiana Chapter of the American Planning Association for his effective leadership in community and regional planning dedicated to promoting planning and implementing policies which improve the quality of life for citizens throughout the State of Louisiana. Mr. Landry received the 2002 Annual Business in the Arts Award presented by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge for his leadership, personal commitment and volunteerism with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. He received the 2000 Community Leadership Award from Leadership/Greater Baton Rouge Alumni, Inc. for his volunteer work on issues affecting social services, leadership, and education while participating in worthy projects benefiting the community. Mr. Landry was selected as a recipient of the 1994 Volunteer Activist Award which recognizes lifetime achievements and exceptional volunteer efforts to help others in the Baton Rouge area. Mr. Landry received the Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1994 from the Louisiana Arts and Science Center. Mr. Landry was named as Baton Rouge's 1992 Young Man of the Year by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Baton Rouge.
