Biography:
Debra Lam Associate, Cities and Climate Change Arup New York, NY Arup is an independent, international firm of designers, planners, engineers, and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. Debra is an Associate, and spearheads climate change and cities work for the firm. With Arup, she has managed a number of strategically important projects, such as with the C40, World Bank, and APEC. She has also supported projects building resilience in New York. Debra is frequently asked to speak at conferences and have published a number of articles and book chapters on cities, sustainable development, and climate change, including blogs for Arup Thoughts and the World Bank Sustainable Cities. She was amongst the 35 high achievers awarded a place on Management Today’s ‘35 women under 35’ list, and was a finalist for the Women of the Future, Science and Technology award. She is well-traveled; have previously lived in the UK, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan; and is proficient in Mandarin and Cantonese. Debra graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Foreign Service at Georgetown University and obtained a Masters in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley with a Departmental Scholarship.
