Kenneth Munkacy

Biography:
As Senior Managing Director of Kingbird Investment Management, Mr. Munkacy is responsible for creating and overseeing Kingbird’s investment strategy, acquisitions, joint ventures, and investment management platform in the U.S. Since 2017, he led Kingbird’s investment portfolio’s growth into 12 states, in 16 markets, with over 9,000 units in 42 properties. Mr. Munkacy has over 33 years of global real estate experience and has been involved in all aspects of real estate, including acquisitions, development, finance, portfolio, and asset management. Mr. Munkacy has led full service real estate investment and operating companies in 12 countries and 23 states and has overseen over $4 billion in transactions. From 2007 to 2017, he served as Senior Vice President of GID Investment Advisers LLC, a vertically integrated real estate investment/operating company and family office, with over 30,000 units and $20 billion in assets under management; he also served as a Senior Managing Director of GID International Group, where he was a member of GID’s Executive Committee and was also responsible for GID’s international real estate investments, joint ventures, and portfolio companies. Prior, Mr. Munkacy served as Senior Managing Director at Starwood Capital/Asia based in Tokyo, Senior Managing Director of GE Capital Europe (Prague), and Managing Director at TrizecHahn Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. Mr. Munkacy also served as the Senior Vice President/Partner overseeing the acquisitions/development group at Golub & Co., a large Chicago family-owned real estate owner/operator, where he acquired approximately 19,000 residential units in ten states representing over $850 million in value. Mr. Munkacy received a BA in Economics - Government from Franklin and Marshall College and earned his Masters of City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in real estate development/finance.
