Sue McCann

Biography: As Senior Vice President of Development, Susan McCann directs real estate development activities in New York and New Jersey, The Community Builders’ north- east region, leading teams of project managers through all hurdles to project completion. Ms. McCann has overseen the development of thousands of units of affordable and mixed-income housing utilizing a wide range of public and private financing sources, including award-winning neighborhood transformation projects. Ms. McCann’s work in revitalizing communities runs the gamut from large scale mixed-tenure new construction developments to preservation of subsidized affordable housing using low income and historic tax credits. Ms. McCann has worked on a variety of public housing redevelopments including HOPE VI, Choice Neighborhoods, and RAD conversions in Chicago, Hartford, Yonkers, and New Brunswick. Ms. McCann is responsible for establishing both the Albany, New York and Chicago, Illinois offices of The Community Builders. Prior to joining TCB in 1999, Ms. McCann was President of the Shorebank Development Corporation in Chicago, IL, where she structured real estate opportunities for Shorebank Corporation's real estate subsidiary. In addition to producing hundreds of affordable and mixed-income rental and homeownership units and retail and office space, Ms. McCann managed and led the real estate subsidiary in the areas of asset management and operations and was responsible for overall operations and strategic direction of the organization.
