J. Michael Pitchford

Biography:
J. Michael Pitchford presently serves as Board Chair of the Housing Partnership Equity Trust LLC, the owner of an affordable housing REIT. He recently retired from the role as President and CEO of Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC), a not for profit affordable housing developer, owner, operator with over 6,000 units. Having spent a two decades serving on the Board of the National Housing Conference, including a three-year stint as its Chairman, Mr. Pitchford developed a strong understanding of how national and local policy impact housing affordability. Prior to joining CPDC, Mr. Pitchford led the Community Development Equity Group at Bank of America. The Group developed or rehabilitated 23,000 units of affordable housing and increased equity commitments 3,000%, to $3 billion, during his ten years leading the organization. Pitchford has participated in or led associations, workshops, conferences, and forums on housing policy, networking, and the sharing of best practices. He has taught community development in both the School of Public Policy and the School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation at the University of Maryland. Mr. Pitchford has served in leadership roles with the National Housing Conference, the National Equity Fund, the Urban Land Institute, The Terwilliger Center for Housing and the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the Board of the Housing Partnership Equity Trust LLC, the Anne Arundel County Affordable Housing Coalition, The Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County and The Carol M Jacobshon Foundation. He is a Past Chairman of the Affordable Housing Council of ULI and is a Past Chairman of the National Housing Conference.
