James Phillips

Biography:
James is a Landscape Architect and Project Manager for Perkins&Will Miami. He graduated from Rutgers University, Cook College in 2006, with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, and from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Design in 2011 with his Master’s. Having grown up in the Northeast, James moved to South Florida in 2014, to work for Raymond Jungles, where he received firsthand experience learning the tropical flora and building projects. In 2018, James transitioned to Perkins&Will where he now leads multiple projects, including the winning competition entry for Jacksonville’s signature downtown park, Jacksonville Landing, Huizenga Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and FPL’s new headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens. He has a passion for plants and ecological systems, often focusing on the intersection of anthropogenic stresses on natural systems, looking for solutions that harmonize their intersection.
