Joe Porter

Biography: January 2004 JOE A. PORTER, FASLA Principal, Design Workshop 1-9-04 Joe Porter is a founder, past president and past Chairman of the Board of Design Workshop Inc., a 130-person company that provides community planning, urban design, tourism and resort planning and landscape architecture services. Design Workshop has offices in the western United States, Brazil, and Chile. For the past thirty years, Joe has worked with new community, natural resource and resort developers to advance the art of community development through design. Joe is a former board member and president of the Landscape Architecture Foundation and is an adjunct professor in the graduate program in Landscape Architecture at the University of Colorado at Denver. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and on the Board of Advisors for Community Viz, an Orton Family Foundation initiative to develop technology for small communities to determine their future. Joe is a frequent speaker at conference and universities on issues related to community development and sustainability.
