Biography:
John is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin worked in Chicago while attending graduate school at the University of Chicago. At M. Myers Properties (later Prairie Management), John led a group managing 5,000 housing units and 250,000 square feet of urban self-storage in Milwaukee and Chicago. This included assisted housing for seniors and families under FHA subsidy programs comprised of high-rise, town home, garden and infill units. The firm also developed and managed market rate product for rent and for sale, including a 50 story Class A rental property in downtown Chicago in joint venture with Dean Witter Realty. John secured a competitive HUD loan to renovate a non-profit, low income family site in the Goldcoast. In 1999, John and his wife, a Charlotte native, moved back home and since then John has developed Class A multifamily properties in North Carolina as a partner in Charter Properties. Founded in 1971, Charter invests in multifamily with a wealthy family office. John has developed over 5,000 units in the Charlotte and Raleigh markets and has planned, built and sold large mixed use land parcels. He recently finished a 300 suburban mixed use deal and has 300 units under construction with another 1,500 units in the development pipeline. John has led numerous successful rezoning efforts. John is Past President of the Apartment Association of North Carolina and the Charlotte Apartment Association. He is a Broker in North and South Carolina. In ULI, he participates in Urban Plan and MFC-Blue and is past chair of MFC-Bronze. He is Board Chair of The Fletcher School, a private K-12 school that serves an LD population.
