Mark Pateman
Biography: Mark is a team builder and a natural leader with a broad network of institutional real estate, financial services, and proptech contacts, and a twenty five year career in real estate and law. He is a member of the Bar in New York and Florida, and a Florida Broker. His legal practice was built as a real estate and capital markets associate at Cadwalader representing CMBS lenders and issuers. Moving to Shutts & Bowen allowed him to expand his skill set into conveyancing, title insurance, leasing, and development advisory. After leaving the full time law firm life Mark opened his own brokerage and title company and was acquired by Cushman & Wakefield in 2006 to build their transactional and property management business in South Florida. Mark spent sixteen plus years as a broker in production primarily representing office landlords, and then as Managing Principal creating a fully diversified sales, marketing, and management operation, leading the entire C&W team through multiple mergers and public offering, maintaining a dominant market position in commercial real estate services for all asset classes. An excellent writer and communicator, Mark was responsible for content creation in the quarterly market updates, leading all sales meetings, and delivering narrative and story telling for team members on pitch videos and presentations. Toward the end of his time at C&W, Mark focused on assisting the multi-family team on all Palm Beach County dispositions, leading the interactions with institutional Class A buyers. Mark’s passion in real estate was focused in urban redevelopment, complete streets, transit, urban agriculture, and the circular economy. This led to policy making positions at the City of West Palm Beach in Planning, DDA advisory, Resiliency consulting, and transit/transportation advisory. Mark left C&W to work on his climate science based site selection company and a small scale residential development in the UK. In addition to the UK project, Mark has been consulting on P3 RFP processes on behalf of a public entity for the construction of mixed use transit oriented development. He was tapped as a fractional Head of Enterprise Sales for an early stage proptech company where he has successfully transferred his real estate networking skills to B2B SaaS marketing. A dual UK/US citizen with the right to work in both locations, Mark enjoys old maps, hiking, kayaking, skiing, motorcycles, architecture, travel planning, reading Tolkien, supporting Tottenham Hotspur, and studying aviation. As a member of the Urban Land Institute Mark expresses his passion for land planning, urbanism, and the built environment, and has been a keynote speaker at the ULI Development Seminars in Palm Beach covering all property types.
