William Reister
Biography: William J. Reister (Bill), 60, is the Managing Partner of Alterra Capital Management, a private real estate company focused on developing or acquiring best-in-class office properties in Austin, Dallas, Denver and Nashville. Bill was formally the chief investment officer and executive vice president for TIER REIT until its merger with Cousins Properties on June 14, 2019. Bill has over 35 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, including acquisitions, development, dispositions, investment management, finance, , leasing, property management, accounting and reporting. Prior to joining TIER REIT in November 2009, from 1996 to 2008, Bill was a senior officer with Prentiss Properties Trust and its successor, Brandywine Realty Trust, a publicly traded REIT (NYSE: BDN). During his tenure with Prentiss, he was responsible for acquisition, development, disposition, leasing, asset management and operations activities of its portfolio of office properties located in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Denver and Southern California. Prior to this role, Bill was a senior corporate finance officer responsible for portfolio level acquisitions and financing. Bill was also a member of the executive team that formed Prentiss upon its successful initial public offering, which was the culmination of investments of Prentiss Properties Realty Advisors (“PPRA”), of which he was a founding officer. PPRA raised the institutional capital that was invested in what became the core portfolio of Prentiss. Prior to these activities, Bill was the senior operations controller for Prentiss Properties Limited, a corporate controller for Cadillac Fairview and a senior auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Bill received a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and is a former certified public accountant.
