Hal Shaw

Biography: Mr. Shaw is a Partner at KSL Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on the travel and leisure sector with in excess of $8.0 billion in assets under management across equity and credit strategies. Since joining KSL in 2007, Mr. Shaw has directly participated in over $2.5 billion of transaction volume related to property acquisitions and financings, restructurings, debt originations, fund level financings, partnership formation, and property dispositions. Mr. Shaw’s representative transaction experience includes the Hotel del Coronado, St. Regis Aspen, Grove Park Inn & Spa, James Royal Palm South Beach, Kalahari Resorts, Great Wolf Resorts, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Western Athletic Clubs, and Amangiri. Mr. Shaw began his career at KSL focused on acquisitions before becoming a founding member of KSL’s first credit fund. Today, Mr. Shaw is a member of KSL's investment committee and helps oversee KSL’s credit strategies, which include two closed end private credit funds and a CMBS fund. Mr. Shaw’s primary responsibilities include deal origination and execution, asset and portfolio management, capital markets activities, and fundraising. Mr. Shaw began his career in real estate with The Cliffs Communities, a master planned community developer located in North and South Carolina. He is a CFA Charterholder and holds a JD/MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and Duke Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude from the Law School and received the Faculty Award for outstanding achievement in Commercial Transactions and Bankruptcy. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting from Washington & Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude, Omicron Delta Kappa, and was a Lewis Kerr Johnson Scholar. Mr. Shaw serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.
