Heidi Sweetnam

Biography:
Heidi Zukoski Sweetnam Vice President, Community Outreach Urban Land Institute Washington, DC Heidi Sweetnam is the ULI Vice President for Community Outreach. Her expertise is in urban planning and community outreach. Her group provides support for a variety of programs that help District Councils advance the ULI mission at the local level, including Reality Check, Urban Plan, Urban Community Advisors, public sector education and technical assistance panels (TAPs). Prior to joining ULI, she was the Executive Director of Blueprint Houston. Blueprint Houston is a 6 year old non-profit organization building community support for comprehensive planning. As its first director, she managed the development of the organization and its successful efforts to bring planning to the forefront of public dialogue. Heidi has also worked as a transportation analyst at the Congressional Budget Office and a legislative analyst at the National Governors' Association in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, she was employed by the Rice Center in Houston, TX, as a consultant in the area of urban transportation. Throughout her life, Heidi has been active in civic affairs. Among other activities, she has been appointed to several boards for the city and council of governments in Dallas and Houston; served as chair of Voters' Guide for the League of Women Voters in Dallas and Pasadena, California; and was elected as the first President of a homeowners association in Dallas, representing 700 households. Heidi has a Masters of Public Policy from University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Stanford University. Heidi is married with two children, one a recent college graduate and the other a senior in college. She lived in Arlington, VA, in the early 1980's and later in Dallas, TX, and Pasadena, California, and Houston, TX before returning to the D.C. area. Sept. 08 Member Directory  Arrow
