Biography:
November. 2011 John is the Past Chair of the Minnesota District Council and the Chair of the Sustainable Development Council. He also co-chairs the Environment Committee for the Regional Council of Mayors in Minnesota. His current areas of focus include leading multi-jurisdictional efforts to maximize private investment and build community along Minnesota's Corridors of Opportunity, corresponding to pending and planned LRT and BRT lines. He is serving as the local project manager for the Central Corridor TOD Investment Framework and is now working with an expanded team to focus on the new Southwest LRT Corridor. Mr. Shardlow leads a team of planners, landscape architects, urban designers and researchers. The firm has won many design and planning awards through the years. They have assisted over 100 cities, towns and counties within Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North Dakota with projects ranging from comprehensive plans, parks and open space plans, economic development, housing, and many special studies. His project experience in recent years has included serving as the lead consultant on several of the Twin Cities largest and most complicated redevelopment projects. He has also led many of Minnesota's most challenging regional planning projects, including the award winning St. Cloud Area Joint Planning District Plan. This unprecedented multi-jurisdictional regional master-planning project supported a cooperative, smart growth planning process before that term was even introduced. It included a 50-year master plan for efficient infrastructure investment, pioneering conservation design work and agreements between 41 cities and 53 townships on planned growth areas. He led a team of consultants in the award winning Arbor Lakes development in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This project involved the reclamation and redevelopment of 2,100 acres of gravel mines.
