Michael Sullivan
Biography: Mike Sullivan, AIA grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Architecture (Five-Year Program). In the summer of 1987, he attended the Preservation Institute Nantucket at the University of Florida and in September 1998 attended The Techniques of Traditional Design at the Seaside Institute. Mike joined LRK in 1989 and became a Principal in 2004. He leads collaborative studios in Baton Rouge and New Orleans that incorporate the talents of planners, urban designers, and architects for mixed-use, hotel, hospitality, commercial, retail, single family, and high density residential to create sustainable and client/market driven design solutions. During his 34 years of experience at LRK, Mike has served as Principal and designer of many of the firm’s major projects. His studios focus on placemaking, whether that be on a college campus, urban neighborhood, commercial, mixed-use or single family. His experience also includes establishing design guidelines and urban master planning studies. Notable projects in his hometown include the Village of Rouzan, the Town of Harveston, the Village of Long Farm, Perkins Lane, and both custom and developer-driven residential projects. National projects include Lifestyle Communities SoBro and Germantown in Nashville, Harbor Town, the Pinch District and Opus Senior Living in Memphis; The McKenzie in Dallas and the Residences at LaCantera in San Antonio; The Ivy and The James in Houston; Alastair at Aria Village in Atlanta; Palmetto Bluff Single Family in Blufton; Private Residences in Alys Beach, the Town of Ave Maria, the Town Center in Santa Rosa, the Town of Rosemary Beach, WaterColor and Baldwin Park Village Center in Florida. In addition to his professional work, Mike has maintained a commitment to civic engagement in a variety of organizations including serving on ULI Louisiana’s District Council and National Multifamily Housing Council. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the Congress for the New Urbanism and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
